一个便宜、设计巧妙的流量池，加速了样品流动速度，并可计算出极佳的流动速度，以完成自清洗功能。如3/4英寸流量池，限制流通直径为1/4英寸，可以提供2英尺/秒的流体速度，流速在1-5GPM的范围，则可以很好的完成自清洗功能。
在粘性极高的环境下，即使为1GPM的流速，也可以保证总有新鲜的样品流经电极的平表面。

在食品或奶制品行业，只需很微小的流量即可监测pH值。可以把材料引入废水处理的管道上，这样保证pH玻璃不会污染到食品上。
速率在0.5—0.2GPM，即可以提供非常准确的pH值。

相对于pH测量固态传感技术来说，玻璃传感技术已被确认为更易使用，重复性更好，更低廉，更准确，更可信赖。
